How to post a donation in your local neighborhood on Craigslist
Step 1/
Type into your browser window “craigslist + your local city or county”, and you will get the result below – I have typed in “craigslist san francisco”.
Step 2/
Click on “San Francisco” in the search results.
The page shown below will load in your browser.
In the top left hand corner under “craigslist” you will see “create a posting”, so click on that.
Step 3/
The next page which loads will ask you to pick where in the San Francisco area you want to have your posting – I have chosen “city of san francisco” and then pressed continue.
Step 4/
The following page which loads will ask you to “choose the location that fits best” for your posting – I chose “bayview” and pressed continue.
Step 5/
Next you will get a screen which directs you to choose “what type of posting is this” – you have to pick “for sale by owner”, and press continue.
Step 6/
After this a long list of categories will load, and you will need to pick a category from that list – you have to pick “free stuff” (somewhere in the middle after farm and garden), as you are making a donation, and then press continue.
Step 7/
Subsequently, you will get a screen asking you to write your posting.
It will give you a few options for contact details – what ever you do, don’t give out your telephone or address, and use a “throw away” email for the posting.
You just follow the process, and add your photo of your item, and then agree to terms and conditions.
You will also get verification emails to make sure that the email you gave is really yours, etc.
If someone wants your equipment, they will contact you using the contact details you gave.
