Do want to donate your used medical equipment online, and only in your local area where you live ? Well, you can easily do that on Nextdoor.com. I’m going to take you through the process in a few quick and easy steps.
How to post a donation in your local neighborhood on Nextdoor.com
Step 1/
You are not a member, you are going to have to become a member of Nextdoor. You can do this on their website Nextdoor.com.
An account is completely free.
Enter your street address and your email, and then click on the green “Join your neighborhood” button, and then verify your account.
See the image below for the screen you should be using to sign up for an account.
If you are a member already, you will just need to log in to your account.
The login button is in the top right-hand corner of the screen.
See below – indicated by the green arrow.
Step 2/
Once you are logged in to your account, you will be on the homepage, which is not dissimilar to Facebook’s homepage.
You will see a sidebar menu with a big green menu tab with “Hompage” on it, and then the “newsfeed” running down the center of the page.
See the image below.
Step 3/
You are now going to post a listing for the item that you wish to donate.
To post a listing, you can get there in two ways –
Method (a) – Post on the Listings Page
I have to note a couple of points here. For a reason that I have no answer to, some users have a menu tab in their left-hand sidebar entitled “For Sale and Free”, and others will have a menu tab entitled “Finds”, they have the same function.
So if you don’t see a menu tab “For Sale & Free”, don’t worry, use the “Finds” tab.
To post an item for donation using the sidebar, just click on either the “For Sale & Free” sidebar menu tab, or if you don’t have that tab, on the “Finds” sidebar menu tab.
Both will load the right page, which has the “All Listings” tab in bright green in the left-hand sidebar menu.
You will see below, in the top right-hand corner I have indicated with a red rectangle the “Post a listing” tab, and that is where we will be going to post a donation on Nextdoor.
See below –
Method (b) – Post from the newsfeed on the Homepage
This method is slightly more direct, but less intuitive.
You will see at the top of the news feed your avatar for posting – indicated below.
As soon as you click in the area indicated above a small window will open, and you need to select and click on the option, Add to your post –
“Sell or give away an item”
It is indicated in the image below by the red rectangle.
Step 4/
So, both Method (a) and Method (b) will bring to the same point for posting your donation on Nextdoor.
It will load the menu below where you will have to select –
- the size of the area in which you wish your post to be seen
- a category – I would just select the category “other”
- title your post
- the price – just tick the “free” box
- description
- Upload a photo of your item
And filled everything in and uploaded the photo, you can hit the “Post Listing” tab in the bottom right-hand corner.
Check the image below.
If you want to check your item at any time, just go to the sidebar menu tab “For Sale & Free” or “Finds” click on that, and you will get the page with all the listings, and in the sidebar menu you will find the tab “Your Listings”, and that is where you will find your donation listing.
